Our vacation....July 2010

We finally get a little break from school for  6 weeks and we wanted to make sure we fit in a little vacation. We started off by going to the Preston Rodeo with Shawn's family which is an annual tradition. It was my very FIRST rodeo and I loved it. I just felt really bad for the poor little calves that get roped up. They just get thrown around like a toy, but then I remember that I do like to eat beef so that made it better for some reason. I was amazed by the bull riders. I am not sure why they don't get hurt more then they did. I did notice that mostly every cowboy was limping after they got bucked off. Of course the rodeo clown just topped it all off.

We also went to the Minnetonka cave which was pretty neat. When we got to the end of the cave the guide turned all the lights off and we got to walk back a little ways in darkness just holding onto the railing. In the cave we learned that stalagtites are the ones that hang from the ceiling because they have to hold on "tight." While stalagmites are the ones that grow from the ground because they might make it to the ceiling.

It was nice to be in the sun again after our cave tour

Driving home after the cave, there was a little river running next to the road.
Shawn decided to do some fishing. Well, after a few casts his line got really
stuck in the middle of the river. Shawn get into the freezing river to save his
line and hook. Good thing  Shawn now has a wife to document these things. :)

The highlight of our trip was going to Bear Lake near Garden City Utah. Neither of us has been on a jet ski so we rented one for the day and loved it! It feels like you are flying over the water. There weren't that many people on the lake and it was a nice day. At the beginning of our ride, we were nervous since it was our first time, but by the end of the day we were jet ski experts! We also went to the beach and enjoyed the sun there. Shawn decided to bury me in the sand and turn me into a mermaid. I was covered in sand afterwards and continued to find sand on me for awhile.
"We don't know what we are doing.."

After we would finish a fast ride, Shawn turned into Wolverine.

The Limo!

Our friend Sterling Caurthers has started a limo business here in Rexburg. Shawn has been a limo driver for him for a few months now and it has been super fun! Never thought I would ride in a limo and now there is one always parked outside our house. We decided to put the limo in the 4th of July parade to help with advertising. We bought sooo much candy and otter pops and we were pretty sure that it would last us through the whole parade, but little did we know we would run out half way through the parade. When I gave out the last otter pop, there were a few kids that were very unhappy with me that they didn't get one. I didn't know an otter pop could cause such sadness. We enjoyed being in the parade and we love being apart of the limo business. Check it out....www.sterlingslimo.com

Ice Caves

The whole group at the end of the cave
We  have figured out that going to school during the summer is not so easy, especially when it is sunny and it seems like play time. We took the time on a few Saturdays to take a break and encounter in  a few adventures. One being the ice caves here in Rexburg. We went with some friends, found the hole in the ground and started crawling through the cave that was covered in ice! We felt like we were in the movie Ice Age. Shawn thought he would bring his roping rope just in case something happened and good thing he did because there were a few little hills of ice I couldn't climb up, so he would go ahead of me and I would hold on to the end of the rope and he would pull me over the little hills and I would slide across the ice on my stomach. It sure was fun!
This is when I when I was wondering if bats live in ice caves

Honeymoon!

We decided that we would like to make our lives some what crazy and get married in the middle of the semester. This means we only had a few days for a honeymoon, so we decided to go up to Jackson, WY where Shawn has worked for the past few summers. It was a nice and relaxing break from school. We were able to walk around the old town, see the beautiful scenery and go to a horse ranch Shawn worked at.
Shawn decided to try duck. It was actually really good!

So pretty
It felt like we were at a petting zoo the buffalo were so close to the road.
We decided not to try it :)

Happy Day!

May 1st 2010 Shawn and I were married for all eternity in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. It was a very memorable day for us starting with our ceremony in the Temple. The Spirit was so strong and it was wonderful to see so many of our loved ones there. Shawn looked so handsome and I have never felt luckier to be marrying such a wonderful man that I love so much. Our wedding day was so perfect it still feels like a dream. One of the happiest days of my life!

I have always wanted to have some sort of "different" wedding reception. We decided to go with a "Circus Circus" theme, so we could have fun games and activities for the kids. Our wedding day we had a reception in Inkom, ID where Shawn grew up and a few weeks later had one in Delta, CO which is my home town. Both ended up being full of face painting, games, ice cream, animal balloons etc.
