Catching Up!

I have not posted anything for so long! I haven't even been taking as many pictures lately, which makes me sad. Here are some pictures from the last like 6 months.

Kanyin always wants to help in the kitchen

Love bed head...especially combing it out :)

Produce Junction is my favorite place! So much produce for so cheap

Here is the new big girl bed that we scored for $5 at a rummage sale!!! Kanyin loves it. She knows not to come out, till she calls one of us. So in the mornings, when I hear "Mama...Mama..Mama!!!" I walk in and she always says "I call Mama!"

I went to the Philadelphia Flower Show with a friend, and it was incredible! Pictures just do not do it justice.

We play Dora Candy Land at least 2 times a day. Don't you love that her dress matches the game? :)
We love going to Shady Maple Farm. In April, we went to the Sheep Shearing Day. It was so fun to watch those poor sheep get a hair cut.

Of course Kanyin loved to see all the other animals on the farm.

She was pretty darn excited to get her face painted.

For our 4th year anniversary, we went to dinner and a rummage sale. I am a sucker for rummage sales.

We forgot to take a picture at the restaurant, so here are our leftovers.

Walking to the rummage sale, we found some recycling boxes full of some awesome books! So we took a few as our gifts to each other. :)

Shawn never ever catches fish when he goes fishing. Except for that one time, he caught this little guy

Uncle Travis and Aunt Lindsey came to visit, and of course we had to go to Amish country.
While in Amish country, we bought a amish dress at a yard sale for $1.

Spring!!!

Philadelphia had a long drawn out winter this year. Snow, snow, ice and more snow! Finally spring is here. We have been trying to get out on walks before the temperatures hit the 90's and the NASTY mosquitos come out. We live in a beautiful neighborhood. I took some pictures on one of our walks so I can always remember beautiful spring in Jenkintown, PA.

Some Family Pictures

Being a photographer and having a little girl growing so fast, I feel like I need new family pictures all the time :) Let's just say, Kanyin is getting really good at getting her picture taken.
Our friends the Wrights, came to visit us while we were in St. George for a rotation. I took some family pics for them. You can see them here. They were so kind, and took some for us as well and I absolutely love them! I will always cherish them.

Kanyin's not liking this kissing idea

Isn't she just the cutest thing ever?!?

Here are a few pictures from our adventures with the Wrights. Thanks for coming to see us! We really did love our time in St. George. It was so warm! We met some really neat people, and got to spend some time with my uncle Randell and his family. They own The Painted Pony  (fine dining restaurant) and Georges Restaurant. If you are ever in St. George you will need to stop by and get some of the best food!

Yup..there are three kids on that stroller.

We lived right next to the temple, so we would go to the visitors center often.

Southern Utah has lots of nuts trees. We collected nuts where ever we went and then stayed up late trying to crack them.

We went on a pretty awesome hike.

Oh My Husband....

Wednesday nights while at BYU-Idaho you would often find Shawn and I country dancing. Hey, it was one dollar for a married couple to get in and we are both country music fans...why not?! We always had so much fun (except for the time he elbowed me in the nose by accident). Shawn has these ideas that we are a true cowboy and cowgirl. His theme song is "Should've been a cowboy!" Along with Shawn being a cowboy comes the true country dancing, of the cowboy swinging his girl up and down and around. Sometimes I am taken by surprise when the dancin cowboy Shawn comes out.

While we were taking family photos with our friends the Wrights, the dancin cowboy Shawn came out, and I am grateful Heather had the camera, so I can always remember these exciting times.  I basically just hold on for dear life, even though he assures me every time that he will not drop me. So kind huh? :)
Even though Shawn has his crazy times, I cannot express how grateful I am for him. Everyday I feel so lucky to have the marriage I do. It is not easy, we have our rough patches but you have to go through the rough to know happiness. He is extremely patient with me which helps me to be a better person. I love my hardworking, perfect dad, faithful cowboy :)

This is me thinking I am being put down, but Shawn's face says otherwise

I am now realizing what is about to happen..

Once again...thought I was being put down..

wrong again

This is me holding on to dear life.. I am probably yelling at him by this point

So he decides to put me down :)

Kanyin is 2

Kanyin turned two on Feb 25th! She kept singing happy birthday to herself all day. She has started calling herself "kan kan" which is so cute! Her and I were in Colorado for a week right before her birthday, so we had a little party with my family and then we got back into town at 2 in the morning on her birthday. Last time she will fly for free :( That is heartbreaking. Her and I both slept in till like 10am that morning and had a little party for her that night. It was a fun day. Here is my letter to her this year.

Dear Kanyin May,
You turned two on the 25th of February, and I am just getting around to writing your letter. I am currently sitting in the rocking chair in your room, while you are playing with your babies. You love playing with them. You love having them wrapped up in your blankets and when they become unwrapped, you get so upset and demand help. I feel like I am rewrapping a baby every two minutes.
We went to your two year old check-up the other day and oh boy do you hate doctors! As soon as we walk into the office, you know where you are. The nurse came out and called your name to come back and you walked to the exit door and said “bye bye.” It took two nurses and me to hold you down just to get your height! Like the doctor said, you are “strong spirited.” That is for sure. You have definitely figured out that you have a mind of your own and when you want something your way, you will fight to the end! You have thrown some pretty amazing temper tantrums in the store, airport, and park many more.
Even with your strong personality, you can be the sweetest two year old around. You always say thank you and give hugs and kisses. Sometimes if I have a sad face, you will come to me with a concerned look and ask, “u k mama??” It melts my heart every time. Whenever people ask what your name is, you always point to yourself and say “kan kan.” Because of that we have started calling you kan kan. You are just so so cute!
You are talking up a storm and LOVE to sing! You are always singing songs or songs you make up. The other day you sang I am a Child of God, all by yourself. You also love ring around the rosies and three little monkeys sitting in a tree. Dora still happens to be on your top list of shows to watch. You are glued to the TV every time you watch it. Cinderella is another favorite right now. You love to get into a certain pink church dress that is your “Cinderella dress” and you hold the front of the dress up and walk around and take bows.
You have been on lots of planes this last year, with Aunt Raveen’s wedding, Christmas, our rotation in St. George and we went to Colorado for Meysa’s school break and a wedding. You LOVE Aunt “Eysa” You two just play all day when you are together. This last time in Colorado, I left you overnight for the first time, so I could go to Utah to take some wedding pictures and you did so good. Since traveling so much you are in love with airplanes. You can spot them in the sky even if they are as small as a pin head. You get so excited. You are also in love with ice. You love to chew, lick it etc. Whenever you see icicles hanging from a car, you love to break them off and lick them like a Popsicle. Gross!! You throw a HUGE tantrum whenever you see one and I refuse to let you have it. It is for your own good. Most often they are black and nasty!
You are a pretty big scaredy cat. You are not a big fan of swimming or sledding or even slides (the small ones you are okay with). We went sledding while in Colorado and you just cried and cried. I forced you to down with me once and that was the end of it. I don’t think you will be going sky diving anytime soon. Your dad is good at toughing you up though. You two love to play wrestle. You also love to play horse and chase with your dad.
I thank Heavenly Father every day for spending you to us. You bring so much love into our family. I hope we can both survive the “terrible twos” together and make the happiest memories. I love you so much and I am grateful you can call me mama.
Love,

Your Mom

It's not a birthday party till Shawn plays with the new toys

Happy Birthday Kanyin!
